WLNS TV 6 Lansing Jackson Michigan News and Weather - WLNS.COM | MHSAA May File Bankruptcy

The Wolverine State High School Athletic Association confronts a large fiscal decision. Officials with the association have got until April 30th to make up one's mind if they are going to register for bankruptcy or entreaty attorney's fees brought on by a drawn-out lawsuit. No athletic programmes are affected right now.

James Carey, Cooley Law School Asst. Professor: "So then the inquiry becomes, what would they do? Well, as a non-profit corporation, both chapter 7 and chapter 11 would be available, and traditionally non-profits that have got got gone into bankruptcy have just injure up their trading operations and liquidated."

The MHSAA have issued a statement saying they appreciate the encouragement from school representatives and competition officials, but cannot remark fully on the substance at this time.
